Jasper - Kelowna - Columbia Gorge

July 29 & 30th

Jasper - Kelowna - Columbia Gorge (The Dalles): 799 miles / 1,286 km

Trip Total so far: Approx. 4,000 miles / 6,437 km

Long last two days. Tired writing this tonight. Maps are a little off. Crap Wi-Fi at motel here in Oregon, so photos are compressed and not as high resolution as normal. Want to get to bed so bullet points:

- Jasper. Lovely. Loved waking up in that campground that morning. Awesome campfire meal the night before after the Icefields. I still can't believe I got that campfire started to begin with.
- Kelowna. One of the highlights. I left my heart there. Girls - thanks for a brilliant evening. Chrissy - you rock. ;-)
- Easiest and faster U.S. Border crossing ever at Osoyoos/Oroville (there was a longish queue going north though).
- Canadian drivers are better about moving over - they don't drive slow/slower/or the same speed as the rest of the traffic in the fast lane. They move over. I like that!
- US 97 down through Washington was hot a lot of the way. Nice climb through a part of the Cascades cooled things down a bit.
- A Native American girl was explaining the language from the Okanaga region. She found itt amusing that I took a picture of the bathroom doors. We got talking about "lost" languages, then Irish. Nice lady.
- Was going to stop in Yakima, WA, as it was getting VERY windy - and late. Decided to "hammer it out" to the Dalles.
- Columbia Gorge was super-windy and scary crossing and big gusts at night. I survived though.
- The Wi-Fi is crap here at the "Oregon Motor Motel." I love when the guy on the front desk tells me, and IT guy, that "It's fine." Hey - you know what, asshole? IT ISN'T FINE!!! I have my iPhone "hack tethered" to my laptop to get these pics and blog up.
- There is nowhere lare in this wonderful town for food. So it's trail mix and an energy bar.
- And sleeeeeeeep.....

- And then tomorrow...onwards!
